Jane Bald lies right on the Appalachian Trail less than 1 mile from Highway 143 at Carvers Gap. Although rarely a destination in itself, with 360 degree views it is a popular stopping point for hikers in the area. Come mid-June each bald is covered with flaming azaleas and rhododendrons.
